Trip Overview

Explore the heart of Greece on a seven-day guided e-MTB odyssey through the Peloponnese. This “Drive & Bike” expedition is designed to reach the region’s most secluded depths, combining four premier locations into one seamless week of adventure. You will navigate the dense conifer forests of Mt. Menalon, traverse the cliff-hanging monasteries of the Lousios Gorge, conquer the alpine heights of Mt. Taygetos, and descend to the waterfalls and dreamlike beaches of the West Coast.

With high-quality e-mountain bikes, challenging elevations turn into unhurried discovery. We trade performance for the “human pace,” ensuring you have the stamina to engage with local life. From coffee stops in traditional stone villages to sharing authentic rustic cuisine with your hosts. Supported by a dedicated vehicle, this journey is about the feeling of the ride, where daily discovery is perfectly balanced with nightly repose in hand-picked boutique hotels.

Why you will Love it

  • The Full Spectrum: Experience the Peloponnese from its highest peaks to its deepest gorges and most iconic beaches.
  • Effortless Discovery: First-class e-MTBs make steady climbs feel smooth, leaving you free to focus on the landscape.
  • Hidden Gems: Swim under the Polylimnio waterfalls and explore the 9th-century monasteries of the Lousios Gorge.
  • The Long-Table Experience: Beyond simple meals, enjoy communal “long-table” dinners that celebrate the marriage of activity and gastronomy.
  • Local Soul: Meet legendary stone builders and shepherds while tasting the “liquid gold” of fresh local olive oil.
  • Uncompromised Comfort: Full vehicle support handles all luggage and logistics, ensuring you never compromise on comfort.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day – Drive to Mt. Menalon

Arrive at Athens or Kalamata airport for a scenic shuttle into the heart of Arcadia. We’ll make a break at the historic Corinth Canal, a marvel of 19th-century engineering, before reaching Vytina. This lively traditional village, dedicated to the ancient god Pan, serves as our mountain base. We’ll gather for a welcome dinner to discuss the trails ahead over a glass of local Moschofilero wine.

Overnight: Vytina

Day 2: Ostrakina to Vytina (via Alonistaina)

32km | +780m up | -1379m down

Our ride begins at 1,700m on the Ostrakina Plateau. We plunge into one of Greece’s largest contiguous fir forests, where the air is scented with resin. The day features a mix of technical single-tracks and a labyrinth of ancient mule tracks used for centuries by local woodcutters. We’ll pass through the stone village of Alonistaina before a rewarding descent back to Vytina.

Overnight: Vytina

Day 3: Vytina to Dimitsana (via Stemnitsa)

33 km | +651m up | -717m down

We cross the western Menalo massif to visit the “stone sentinels” of Arcadia: Stemnitsa and Dimitsana. Stemnitsa is famous for its silversmithing heritage, while Dimitsana sits dramatically above the gorge. The route alternates between technical mountain trails and sweeping gravel roads, offering constant views of the deep valleys below. We’ll stop at natural springs to refill our bottles with ice-cold mountain water.

Overnight: Vytina

Day 4: Dimitsana to Karytena (Lousios Gorge)

26.7 km | +608m up | -1058m down

Prepare for a “water paradise” ride. We cycle along the rim of the Lousios Gorge, where 9th-century monasteries like Prodromos and Philosophou appear to be carved directly into the vertical cliffs. After exploring these spiritual heights, we descend to the riverbank for a refreshing swim in the turquoise waters of the Lousios River. Late afternoon, we transfer south to the vibrant seaside city of Kalamata.

Overnight: Kalamata

Day 5: Taygetos Circuit

42.2 km | +634m up | -1941m down

We head into the “Holy Mountain” of the Spartans. Starting high on the Taygetos range at 1,800m, we ride through alpine meadows that feel worlds away from the coast. The trail offers breathtaking 360-degree views, where the peaks of the Peloponnese meet the deep blue of the Messinian Gulf and the Aegean. The day ends with a thrilling, long descent through pine forests back to the sea for a well-earned swim.

Overnight: Kalamata

Day 6: Polylimnio Waterfalls to Voidokilia Beach

32.7 km | +310m up | -635m down

Our finale takes us through a “Paradise on Earth.” We begin at the Polylimnio waterfalls, a series of stepped natural pools where we can dive into the cool green water. From there, we cycle through monumental olive groves, some over 2,000 years old, until we reach the coast. The journey concludes at the world-famous, omega-shaped Voidokilia Beach for a final sunset dip.

Overnight: Kalamata

Day 7: Departure Day

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. On your last day, enjoy a slow Mediterranean breakfast by the Messinian Gulf. There is time for a final stroll along the Kalamata promenade before your transfer to Kalamata or Athens Airport for your journey home. Of course, you can also extend your holiday in Greece. Talk to us if you would like any advice or recommendations!

What’s the Accommodation Like?

Your home for the week consists of small, family-run boutique hotels characterized by a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. In the Arcadian mountains, you will stay in traditional stone mansions featuring warm wood interiors and views over the fir forests. In Kalamata, our waterfront accommodations offer bright, air-conditioned rooms where you can hear the rhythm of the Ionian Sea. All our partner hotels provide secure areas for our e-bikes and an intimate level of service that makes you feel like a guest of the family rather than a tourist.

What’s the Food Like?

Dining is the “soul” of this expedition. We prioritize a “farm-to-table” approach that highlights the diverse microclimates of the Peloponnese.

  • Breakfast: It is served each morning at your hotel, including fresh bread, local honey, yogurt, seasonal fruits, and eggs.
  • Signature Picnics: During the day, our guides prepare high-end picnics in remote spots—think shaded forest clearings or riverbanks. You’ll enjoy artisanal Graviera cheeses, sun-dried tomatoes, mountain honey, and the world-famous Kalamata olives.
  • Long-Table Dinners: In the evenings, we gather at local tavernas for festive “long-table” meals. You will taste regional specialties like Chilopites (handmade pasta), savory Syglino (cured smoked pork), and slow-cooked lamb, all drizzled with the “liquid gold” of Laconian olive oil and paired with rare indigenous wines.

Support Vehicle

The support vehicle accompanies the ride each day, staying nearby without interrupting the cycling experience. It carries water, supplies, luggage, and essential equipment, and is there whenever support is needed.

  • First aid kit
  • Basic bike spares and essentials
  • Bike mechanic set
  • Bike trailer
  • Water and snacks

Who is the trip for?

This trip suits travelers who value experience over performance. While the routes have significant elevation changes, the high-quality e-bikes make the climbs smooth and manageable for regular riders with a moderate level of fitness. It is for those who want to “uncover the real Greece” through an intimate exploration of diverse terrains, preferring the scent of a pine forest and the taste of a local vineyard to the speed of a digital stopwatch.

How to Get There

Transportation

Start your adventure in Greece’s Peloponnese region with a warm welcome on Day 1 at either Athens Airport or  Kalamata Airport.
